ABOUT CONFERENCE

The Pakistan Network of Quality Assurance in Higher Education (PNQAHE) was founded during the 1st International Conference on "Quality Assurance in Higher Education," held on December 18-19, 2017, and hosted by Khyber Medical University (KMU) in Peshawar. KMU’s Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) proposed PNQAHE as a platform to connect from over 250 universities across Pakistan. The initiative received strong support from both national and international participants.

1. Describe the key principles and obligations of UNESCO’s Global Recognition Convention and their implications for national and instutional recognition policies and procedures.
2. Understand the purpose and operationalise practical implications of the Operational Guidelines of the Global Recognition Convention for national recognition and quality assurance practices.
3. Explain how quality assurance supports fair, transparent, and consistent recognition of qualifications across different higher education systems.
4. Examine recognition challenges related to emerging forms of provision, including transnational education, micro-credentials, and non-traditional learning pathways. 5. Apply the principles of Article VII of the Global Recognition Convention to recognition cases involving refugees, displaced persons, and others who face difficulties in documenting their qualifications.

• Translate QA standards into effective prompting patterns for core QA tasks (reviewing self-studies, triangulating evidence, drafting evaluative feedback).
• Distinguish clearly between AI-assisted work and non-delegable human judgment, and formalise accountability boundaries.
• Design AI use policies and guidelines adaptable to different contexts: agency-wide, university-wide, faculty/school-level, and team-based QA operations.
• Define expectations for institutional AI use, including disclosure requirements, acceptable use cases, documentation standards, and auditability.
• Apply a practical checklist to detect AI-enabled risks such as synthetic evidence, inflated claims, internal inconsistencies, and automation bias.
• Develop a responsible AI implementation roadmap for QA functions, covering governance structures, staff training, monitoring, review cycles, and continuous improvement.

5. Apply practical tools and case-based techniques to manage stakeholder relationships effectively, enhance programme relevance, and strengthen trust between higher education institutions and society.
